It falls without consideration

intent on cleansing the earth with it’s powdery promises

It falls without belief, without conviction, void of understanding

heeding never petty predictions and false accusations

yielding not to weak purposes and ineffective plans

I wish it would fall until every tree top remained covered

until every house was hidden

every road impassable; and all the colors drained

I wish it would snow until men’s souls were pure

I dream of a snow so deep it would swallow the world hard and fast

before any objections were passed

does it wish to hasten let it hasten, does it like to drift let it please itself

tiny flecks or large mis-shaped flakes

and when the world looks new again

It is finished.
